For years, Sorensen, Wilder & Associates has
provided defensive tactics training to law
enforcement and security agencies. Qualified
instructors with extensive backgrounds in
defensive tactics teach all of our classes.
- EMPTY HAND DEFENSE - BASIC DEFENSIVE
TACTICS (4 HRS) This course provides
participants with hands-on training in the
use of defensive tactics, including proper
body mechanics. distance strategies, verbal
control, blocking and striking techniques,
and takedowns.
- EMPTY HAND DEFENSE - TACTICAL
HANDCUFFING (4 HRS) Many programs claim to
be able to teach speed cuffing, trick
cuffing during struggles and other
non-realistic tactics. At SWA, all of our
handcuff training focuses on controlling the
individual and applying handcuffs
appropriately. We will also teach the use of
force and courtroom testimony for the
application of handcuffs. An in-depth
discussion of the nomenclature is also
included. Simply put, our training is
realistic.
- EMPTY HAND DEFENSE - PRESSURE POINT
TECHNIQUES (4 HRS)- is a must for all Public
Safety and Emergency Service personnel.
Through the use of pressure points, a public
safety professional is less likely to use
excessive force, and will become more
confident in his/her ability. Pressure
points are easy to learn, easy to use, and
easy to retain. No long, cumbersome training
program that only a martial artist could
learn.
- EMPTY HAND DEFENSE - FLOOR FIGHTING
TECHNIQUES (4 HRS) This area is often
overlooked in defensive tactics.
Realistically, most officers will be knocked
to the ground at some point in their career,
therefore; they need to be trained in
techniques that will allow them to protect
themselves and others while gaining control
of the combatant.
- EMPTY HAND DEFENSE - RESTRAINT
TECHNIQUES (2 HRS) The use of physical
restraints can be confusing. Our approach to
training in the use of restraints includes
an in-depth review of the various types and
styles available, picking the right type for
the situation best application methods, and
the laws governing the proper use and
application.
- EMPTY HAND DEFENSE - EDGED WEAPONS
DEFENSE (4 HRS) There are more incidents
involving edged weapons than firearms.
Officers need to be trained in realistic
approaches to defending themselves against
an edged weapon. This is a valuable part of
a complete training package for both, armed
and unarmed officers. Our program teaches a
variety of options available to officers
during an edged weapons confrontation.
- BATON DEFENSE TECHNIQUES - STRAIGHT
BATON (2 HRS) A hands-on training session
that trains participants in the use of the
straight baton. We will also discuss the use
of force and talk about courtroom testimony
involving the use of a straight baton of
other similar tool. Upon completion of this
program participants will have a basic
understanding of the conditions in which the
baton may be used, justification for the
use, and how to document these actions.
- BATON DEFENSE TECHNIQUES - EXPANDABLE
BATON A hands-on seminar that trains
participants in the operational use of the
expandable tactical baton. The program is
simple to learn and easy to understand. It
provides sufficient defensive impact weapon
tactics for Public Safety personnel without
long hours of training. Upon completion of
the program participants will have a basic
understanding of the conditions in which the
baton may be used, justification for the
use, and how to document these actions.
