SWA is proud to have become nationally recognized for our programs in workplace violence prevention and aggression management. The Essentials of Aggression Management: From Talkdown to Takedown takes a new and unique approach to developing scenarios for dealing with the various stages of aggression. Each student in our program is taken through the "aggression continuum", where they learn to recognize six specific changes in behavior that will allow them to recognized and defuse the aggression long before it becomes violent. Our program includes the following:
  • The Effects of Violence in the Workplace
  • The Cost of Violence on American Business
  • The Golden Rule of Workplace Violence
  • Responding to Potential Acts of Violence in the Workplace
  • Characteristics of the Potentially Violent Person
  • Recognizing Potentially Violent Behavior
    • The Aggression Continuum
    • Verbal De-Escalation Skills
    • Non-Verbal Clue to Pending Violence
    • The Do’s and Don’t of Aggression Management
    • Ten Proven De-Escalants to Remember
  • Post Incident Follow-Up
  • Questions and Answers

Part two of our program focuses on realistic, proven physical intervention methods including:

  • One-on-one confrontations
  • Team interventions and restraint techniques
  • Physical restraint methods that allow you to gain control of the situation, using the least amount of force possible
  • Liability issues surrounding the use of force and physical restraint
